General

Visa Expert assists with police clearance certificates, embassy legalization, and related administrative services for both individuals and businesses requiring documents for international use.

It depends on the country where the document will be used. If the destination country is part of the Hague Convention, your document requires an apostille. If not, it must go through embassy or consular legalization. Not sure? Send us the country name, and we’ll advise you immediately.

Apostille & Legalization

An apostille is an international authentication stamp validating the origin of a public document. It’s required when submitting official paperwork abroad, such as birth certificates, marriage certificates, company documents, or academic records.

  • Apostille = For Hague Convention countries
  • Legalisation = For non-Hague Convention countries, requiring extra authentication via DIRCO and embassies

No, apostilles must be issued by the country where the document originated. However, we can advise you on the correct process or refer you to trusted global partners.

Over 100+ countries including the UK, USA, EU member states, Australia, UAE, and more. If you’re unsure whether your destination country accepts apostilles, ask us and we’ll confirm instantly.

Yes. We work directly with DIRCO and foreign embassies to ensure your documents meet all legal requirements for non-Hague Convention countries such as China, UAE, Qatar, Angola, and others.

Document Requirements

This depends on the document type. Typically, we require original documents such as:

  • Unabridged Birth/Marriage Certificates
  • Police Clearance Certificates
  • Academic Qualifications
  • Company or Legal Documents

We’ll guide you on the exact requirements before you submit anything.

Certain documents—like copies of IDs or passports—must be certified by a Commissioner of Oaths or Notary Public.

For apostilles and legalizations, originals are usually required. However, for translations or notarised copies, scanned documents may be accepted. We’ll confirm based on your document type.

We cannot legalize laminated documents, fraudulent or altered copies, or documents issued outside South Africa. If you’re unsure, send us a photo or scan and we’ll verify for you.
